Rajab Ali Sayed (b.1990) is a visual artist who lives and works in Los Angeles, California. He received his BFA from the National College of Arts in Lahore, Pakistan in 2013, and his MFA from the University of Houston, TX in 2017. He attended Augustana University in Sioux Falls, SD as a Fulbright Exchange Scholar (2011) and completed the Sam and Adele Golden Foundation Residency (2017) and Vermont Studio Center Residency (2017). He has also taught drawing and painting at The University of Houston (2017) and Art League Houston (2018) and is now a part of the performing arts faculty at Bridges Academy, Studio City, LA (2019 - present).
Rajab's work has been published in Friend of The Artist (2017) and Create Magazine (2018). He has exhibited at Blaffer Art Museum, Houston TX, Barbara Davis Gallery, Houston TX, Bank of America Center, Houston TX, Lawndale Art Center, Houston TX, Bill Arning Exhibitions, Houston TX, Craighead Green, Dallas, TX, Viridian Artists, NYC, 1969 Gallery NYC, and Unicorn Gallery, Pakistan.
He completed an artist residency at Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles (2019) and his painting, "Partition'' is presently on view as a 9x9 foot vinyl reproduction at West Hollywood Park's Parking Structure on San Vicente and Santa Monica, through December 2021. The artist exhibited virtually in the group show Animal Nitrate on Artsy (March 2020) and was featured in a solo presentation Layercake on YNGSPC (September 2020). Two of his paintings were recently shortlisted for the upcoming 2021 Young Painter’s Competition at Miami University, juried by Metropolitan Museum of Art curator Kelly Baum.
